Happy Birthday, Kathleen!

From last summer. Please hurry up summer...we need more tutu swimming suits and big ole bellies on display!
Little E's older, wiser, super adventurous and MUCH taller girlfriend Kathleen turned two last week!

Easton wanted to make sure he treated her right so he made me cruise through some Pinterest boards to find something special.  He settled on homemade play dough!  He's pretty demanding like that but the good news is he wanted to help. So we dug out the cream of tartar from our recently organized spice cabinet, cracked open the newly purchased food coloring and set off on our homemade gifting adventure.
He was such a great helper. He shook the salt. Then left....
A stylish little suitor -- I loooove these Tiny TOMS
Let me know when it's ready for test, Mom.

Just as the recipe said this stuff was super easy to make and turned out great. We decided on "bubblegum" pink and "mint" green...one drop of red...one drop of green...

I really need work on my "finished product" photos
I let Easton test out the small pieces on the right before we packaged it up for Kathleen. Had to make sure it was Little Homie approved!
APPROVED!!
So we packed up our gift and headed over to see the birthday girl. The Mink's house was full of family and Kathleen was so happy. Sara had the house all decorated with yellow and Kathleen was dressed as a little bee -- no idea how we lucked out and put E in a yellow shirt!
Birthday balloons!
After playing with the balloons, shooting hoops and coloring it was time for singing and cake. Sara had ordered the cutest (and yummiest) little bee cupcakes from The Cakery -- a variety of vanilla and chocolate. It took all my willpower to not eat one of each!

Again...I need work on my staging/composition but aren't they cute?!?
Kathleen did AMAZING with blowing out her candles

And then proceeded to kill that little cupcake! You go birthday girl!!!

Easton had fun eating his cupcake, too...

So after you play, sing, blow out candles and eat your cake there's only one thing left to do....PRESENTS!!! Easton was so nervous to give Kathleen her present. Would she like it? Would she think it was silly? Oh he was so nervous. The moment finally came, he handed it over and said Happy Birthday...
She was unimpressed....
kidding, kidding....

She loved it!! Or so we'll assume because I failed to get a picture of her and the play dough -- I was too nervous for E.
This was the second part of her gift -
a new photo for her big girl room!!
"thanks, easton!!"
 "sure, kathleen, it was nuthin'"
(smile buddy, girls like that)
And Kathleen being the thoughtful young girl she is, got Easton a gift so he could have something to open, too. Awe! So sweet.
Hot Wheels! Yeay!

Signing his "thank you"
The rest of the party was so entertaining as we watched Kathleen open each of her gifts and then say "more" in her cute little voice after each one. It was the exact same thing I do on my birthday so it was great to see that a two-year-old acts like me...and not the other way around ;)
focused on her new toy -- it was one of those super smart stuffed
animals that talk to you (i think)

Sara, Kathleen and Sam -- with baby #2 soon on the way!

Happy family
Thanks for letting us share the day with you, Kathleen!!
